Opinion: Who should the Detroit Lions draft?

(02/28/20 11:00am)

On April 23, 2020, the NFL Draft will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada. This event is heralded as the day college studs either start their journey of becoming a star or a bust. The Detroit Lions hold the third overall pick this year, which could potentially be the pick that puts the Lions on a new path.

Opinion: An honest review of athletic supplements

(02/16/20 9:19pm)

Before I begin, I’d like to premise this article by saying that everyone’s health is different and that you should thoroughly research any supplement before using it. This is an honest review of my experience with athletic supplements which could be completely different than your experience.

Advice: Working out consistently can help your mental health

(02/16/20 7:13pm)

Living in Michigan during the winter - or most of the Midwest for that matter - isn’t easy. It’s cold, dark, and forcing yourself to get out of the house is sometimes one of the hardest parts of the day. Last year during this time, my mental health was at one of the lowest states it ever has been. I wasn’t happy with myself mentally or physically, and every time I looked in the mirror, I frowned.

Opinion: Eastern Michigan University’s interim gym set-up is less than ideal for students and faculty

(02/02/20 6:00pm)

Updated on Feb. 15, 2020: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that the gym is free to use. Each student is billed $40 per semester as a REC/IM fee. Students can opt out, losing access to the gym.

Opinion: The Pistons need to consider making these moves before the trade deadline

(01/26/20 7:52pm)

A few days ago, Bleacher Report announced that multiple teams in the NBA were looking to target Pistons guard Derrick Rose for a trade. Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic are all in dire need of a guard with Rose’s talents and could provide assets in return that would aid the Pistons. First round draft picks and/or young talent would likely be Detroit’s asking price, as Rose is a pivotal piece of their basketball team.

Opinion: Elite quarterback play should be Michigan’s highest priority

(01/21/20 8:51pm)

Over the course of this past college football season, we saw a multitude of elite quarterbacks launch their teams into positions of success. If you look around the country at the highest ranked teams, they typically hold one thing in common: they have an elite quarterback - something that has eluded Michigan since Denard Robinson’s 2011 season.

Opinion: Juwan Howard’s recruiting will turn Michigan into a basketball powerhouse

(01/12/20 5:44pm)

On May 22, 2019, Miami Heat Assistant Coach Juwan Howard was announced as the new head coach of Michigan basketball. Juwan was part of the “Fab Five” freshmen in 1991 that led Michigan to a national title appearance, and has always been known as a Michigan fan. Some fans didn’t know what to expect as Juwan had never held a head coaching job in his life. So far, Juwan Howard has been a recruiting machine.

Opinion: Juice WRLD deserves to be remembered

(12/14/19 3:15am)

On Sunday morning, rapper Jarad Anthony Higgins, otherwise known as Juice WRLD, passed away after suffering a seizure. This came as a major saddening shock to fans everywhere, including myself. Juice WRLD was only on the scene for about a year and a half but he accomplished more in that span than some artists do in their entire careers.

Opinion: Michigan’s problem with Ohio State is much deeper than a talent gap

(12/07/19 2:50am)

Last weekend, “The Game” was played between The University of Michigan and The Ohio State University. This game is heralded as the best rivalry in all of sports, but lately it’s been less of a rivalry and more of an annual vicious beating by Ohio State.

Opinion: Why Detroit’s major sports teams are stuck in a state of sub mediocrity

(11/25/19 11:32pm)

I came across an interesting statement while scrolling through my phone the other day: Currently, all four major Detroit sports teams are in last place for their respective divisions. The first thing I thought was, “How did it get this bad?”

Opinion: The state of Michigan hoops are the best it’s been in a long time

(11/23/19 5:36pm)

The University of Michigan and Michigan State University basketball teams have fought for control of the state for the past six years.
