The Michigan Office of the Attorney General has denied charges against the Washtenaw County Deputy Sheriff involved in a use of force incident which took place earlier this year in Ypsilanti Township. The Attorney General’s office justified the deputy’s response claiming that he had responded appropriately "given the level of resistance by those being arrested."
The campus area crime map is a report of criminal activity that has been reported in the Ypsilanti-area as well as on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. The following crimes were reported between Sept. 5 through Sept. 11.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office provided their media release to the public on May 26 following the Facebook Live video of a deputy repeatedly punching a woman in the head.
Videos circulated on social media on Tuesday of a white Washtenaw County Sheriff’s deputy appearing to repeatedly punch a black woman in the head. The incident took place during an arrest on Tuesday, May 26 at about 1:30 a.m.
Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Happy’s Pizza on Washtenaw Ave. in Ypsilanti Township. The robbery took place Tuesday, May 12, in the afternoon around 1 p.m. Police were notified shortly after.
A shooting occurred outside of Maria’s Liquor and Fine Wine (3344 S Grove St) at the corners of Grove St. and Rawsonville Road in Ypsilanti Charter Township. The shooting took-place around 2:20 p.m. Sunday, April 26.
A hooded female has been recorded on numerous security cameras throughout the Prospect Park neighborhood of Ypsilanti following multiple car break-ins in the area. These break-ins, that resulted in thefts, occurred in the early morning of April 21. The break-ins occurred at around 1:30 a.m.
On the same day that Lil Uzi Vert’s greatly anticipated album, “Eternal Atake” was released, Uzi took to twitter to tease a deluxe version to the album. With only about seven hours passed since the initial albums release, Uzi tweeted at multiple collaborators- the likes of Young Thug, Future, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and Lil Baby.
Lil Uzi Vert dropped his extremely awaited album “Eternal Atake” on Friday, Mar. 6. The album had been teased since the release of Uzi’s last studio album, “Luv Is Rage 2” which was released in Aug. 2017.
A national pilot shortage is currently facing the field of aviation, and the shortage is only expected to grow in the future.
There is an update to the murder of the 21-year-old man Brian “Trey” Matthews III, who was fatally shot at Nancy Park in Ypsilanti Township.

In the Jan. 10 edition of Ypsilanti’s bi-weekly newsletter to the public, a variety of updates to the city were noted, including that “Ypsi will still be tight on public safety staffing, despite us likely adding staff for the third consecutive budget year. That should tell you how much our city had to cut staff in the key departments of Police and Fire over the last 15 years or so. Our officers and firemen are doing a lot with a little, our hats are off to them."
