UPDATE (1:46 p.m.): Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Cmdr. Dieter Heren says the lockdown has been lifted on all of the schools. He says police have two individuals in custody.

UPDATE (1:28 p.m.): YPS spokesperson Emma Jackson says the lockdown has been lifted on all buildings except Ypsilanti High School. She says the high school remains on lockdown because of its close proximity to where police are observing the individual.

Five Ypsilanti schools are on lockdown after a West Middle School staff member reportedly saw a man in close proximity to the school who appeared to be concealing a weapon, school officials said.

Police are investigating. Derrick Jackson, director of community engagement for the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department, could not immediately be reached for comment this morning.

I just spoke with Ypsilanti Public Schools Spokesperson Emma Jackson. Jackson said police are conducting surveillance on a house they believe the individual entered. She said the schools are awaiting an all-clear from authorities. She said she expects school to let out at its normal time.
