President Susan Martin announced at a Board of Regents meeting today that tuition and room and board rates will not increase for the 2010-2011 budget year.

The university is calling it their “Zero, Zero, Zero Initiative.”

EMU is the first university in Michigan to announce their tuition and room and board rates for the following year.

“This recommendation is a risk to our bottom line and credit rating,” Martin said.

The Board of Regents unanimously approved the motion to pass this resolution.

“There are so many families that are hurting, and this is our effort to provide some assistance to those families,” regent Thomas Sidlik said.
