Republicans seek to solve problem that does not exist, disenfranchise college students

Last updated: 12/28/11 9:34am

We have heard a lot from Republicans about liberty and upholding citizens’ rights. Voting is a right many of us hold dear. So, why are Republicans throughout the states passing laws making it more difficult for college students to vote?

A recent New York Times editorial described how New Hampshire House Speaker William O’Brien wants to disenfranchise college students because they tend to vote more for Democrats.

Of course, Republicans typically are not as honest when explaining why such laws need passing. They say it is to protect the system from fraud, fraud that does not really exist.

So, if you plan on voting in next year’s election, be active in ensuring your rights are not trampled on. Register early. If you have more questions, check this link http://publius.org/info/students.asp or http://www.michigan.gov/sos.
