Freedom of speech is a cornerstone of a truly free society - it is the ability to
freely exchange ideas with one another. Having freedom of speech is the ability to express yourself and be comfortable with yourself; free speech helps
people find out who they are and their place in life. This great freedom comes with great responsibility, as it calls for individuals to respect other
opinions and associate with people who do not hold the same views.

Since her last album "Revival" was released in 2015, Selena Gomez has been through many ups and downs in her personal life, which were intensified by being in the public eye. Her new LP titled "Rare," released Friday, Jan. 10, reflects on these experiences and shows how much the singer has grown as both an artist and an individual.

A new year means that it’s time for new year’s resolutions. The start of a new year means a lot of new beginnings and a brand new opportunity to make new changes. When January approaches every year, everyone is discussing all the new things they want to accomplish in the next year and the changes they want to make in their lives. The new year serves as an opportunity to make the changes people think they need to make or take on the new hobbies they want to explore.

Something the Democratic field has been lacking this cycle is an honest conversation about qualifications and experience. Each candidate touts their experience in various fields and levels of political office. Some emphasize their geographic ties and connections to important political operatives, some their ties to activists. But for voters looking for someone who can “get stuff done,” they don’t all seem to have the same level of competency.

The holiday season may be over, but that doesn’t mean a person can’t still enjoy a classic holiday movie. My favorite movie of all-time happens to be “The Holiday.”

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has consistently opposed the construction of a tunnel around Enbridge’s Line 5 oil pipeline. In March, the Democrat made good on that promise, signing an executive order nullifying former Gov. Rick Snyder’s approval of construction and signalling that a complete shutdown is imminent. This executive order has divided Michigan’s Democratic Party, pitting labor unions and environmentalists against each other.

"Call Down the Hawk" is a novel about dreaming. Whether slogging through sleep-induced chaos or clawing their way into being the people they want to be seen as, characters in this book dream big and dream hard. "Call Down The Hawk”, which was released on Nov. 5 is Maggie Stiefvater’s first book in her new series the "Dreamer Trilogy". These books will be a part of a spin-off from one of Stiefvater's previous series, "The Raven Cycle".

On Sunday morning, rapper Jarad Anthony Higgins, otherwise known as Juice WRLD, passed away after suffering a seizure. This came as a major saddening shock to fans everywhere, including myself. Juice WRLD was only on the scene for about a year and a half but he accomplished more in that span than some artists do in their entire careers.

Christmas has come early for Americans as President Donald Trump's impeachment is nearing its final steps. As the House Intelligence Committee gears up to present their evidence to the Judiciary Committee, it's as important as ever to look back and remind ourselves what happened and predict what comes next. And since the public hearings were a two-week-long nightmare, it's probably not a terrible idea to touch base and try to remind ourselves what's going on. So, without further ado, a speedy recap:

Atmospheric sounds intermingle with soft words to create a relaxed environment. Worries fade into the background, and there is nothing to do, besides listen and enjoy. This weeks playlist is trance-like. I suggest setting aside time to listen to it, and then immersing yourself into the noise.

Ewan McGregor stars as Dan Torrance in this sequel to one of the most memorable films “The Shining,” adapted from the mind of Stephen King. The original film centered around Jack Torrance and his wife and son after he accepted a position at the spooky Overlook Hotel. The supernatural forces within the hotel influenced Jack to leave his wife and child, Dan, in intensifying danger. “Doctor Sleep” fast forwards in time to focus on Dan Torrance after the first film’s events.
