Basketball: Spring Break Roundup

While Eastern Michigan University students took last week off, the men’s basketball team continued to work, but fell short by going 1-2 during the break. The Eagles began the mid-winter break with a 73-65 victory Feb. 21, on the road at Northern Illinois. Mike Talley scored a career high 25 points while Karrington Ward followed with 21 points. Both players also played all 40 minutes in the contest to help complete the season sweep over the Huskies.

Student-athletes train to become active bystanders

By the end of the 2015 Winter semester, all student athletes will complete education and training for Eastern Michigan University’s “Step Up, Stand Up: Be An Active Bystander” program.The Step Up Program was developed by Dr. Kay Woodiel, a professor of health education at EMU, and Dr. Melissa Rosenblum, a staff psychologist and coordinator of Outreach Programs for Counseling and Psychological Services at Snow Health Center in 2012 and is accessible to all students.

Student Government held its Senate Meeting March 10. Silent protesters sat in on the meeting.15 women protested comments made by Senator William McDonald.Alyce Dodenhoff, junior, biology major, said that McDonald has made comments that were derogatory toward women that she has witnessed herself and has also heard stories from other students.
