Attempted unarmed robbery in Alexander lot

Eastern Michigan University’s Department of Public Safety is investigating a reported attempted unarmed robbery that occurred in the Alexander paid parking lot around 8 p.m. Tuesday. There were no reported injuries. The suspect is described as a male, six feet tall, approximately 200 pounds wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

The victim is a female EMU student. She told police that man she did not know walked up to her in the Alexander lot and asked her for money. When she refused to give the man money, he attempted to snatch her purse.

After a short struggle, the female student told police that the man let go of the purse and fled west.
