With the announcement of a third season in 2015, NBC’s hit television series “Hannibal” is once again taking the spotlight just in time for Halloween.
This series acts as an adaptation of Thomas Harris’s novel Red Dragon, and also creates some truly original fear of its own. The series focuses on FBI agent Will Graham, who is played by Hugh Dancy, and his investigations of a serial killer known only as the Chesapeake Ripper. He works alongside his therapist, Hannibal Lecter, played by Mads Mikkelsen, who has a taste for gourmet food - though his preferred source is atypical to say the least.
The series contains some very terrifying imagery and doesn’t hold back on the blood and gore. With every kill, the horror grows and each is more horrific than the last as it becomes clearer that there is far more to Hannibal than meets the eye.
As Graham’s mental breakdowns increase due to his analysis of these murders, his hallucinations become even more frightening.
The creativity of the show’s creators is visible in every frame. It isn’t every day that you see Lecter become a specter-like wendigo in Graham’s eyes, or watch as a creature known by the fans as the Ravenstag come to life wreathed in flames.
The last time viewers saw Graham he had been attacked by Lecter, and left for dead along with his companions. Nobody knows if he will survive into the next season but it is clear that Hannibal will not stop being his usual self and if his recent work is any indication, more death will surely follow.
