Donate to The Eastern Echo

Support local journalism and The Eastern Echo by donating through one of The Echo funds managed by the EMU Foundation. Go to the foundation's contributions page, and in the box under Designation, enter one of the names below or the fund number, which is listed below in parenthesis next to the name.

Among the available funds are:

  • The EMU Echo Editor Endowed Scholarship (01049), which provides financial support for current EMU Echo editors.
  • The Scott Stephenson Eastern Echo Scholarship (02414), created by the family of former Echo Editor Scott Stephenson, which benefits student(s) in the School of Communication, Media & Theater Arts in the College of Arts & Sciences. It is awarded to a junior or senior EMU student majoring in journalism and working for The Eastern Echo. The award is designed for students who are self-financing their education and ineligible for need-based grants.
  • The Student Media Development Fund (00825), which provides operational support, from computers and cameras to style guides and notebooks, for the Student Media program.

Thank you for supporting The Echo and EMU student media.

The Eastern Echo and the student media team are focused on taking the news operation into the future with an emphasis on multimedia delivery and good old-fashioned, strong reporting tools. Journalism is changing, but the work journalists produce is as necessary as ever. The team created this video to demonstrate that work and commitment.

Joshua Nieman sits down with Eastern Michigan University's new College of Arts and Sciences Dean, Carol Bishop Mills, and talks about bravery, bullying, life in Florida and more.
