02414 -- Scott Stephenson Eastern Echo Scholarship:  This expendable scholarship is for the benefit of student(s) in the School of Communication, Media & Theater Arts in the College of Arts & Sciences.  It will be awarded to a full or part-time junior or senior EMU student majoring in journalism and working for the Eastern Echo.  The student should be working to self-finance their education and not be eligible for need-based grants.

Police Blotter, Oct. 5-9

Sunday, Oct. 5

A male resident’s video game system was reported stolen from his room in Hoyt Hall at 9:51 p.m. The crime was believed to have occurred between 5 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Sunday. There were no signs of forced entry. There are no suspects and the crime is currently under investigation.

Monday, Oct. 6

A female student’s unattended wallet was reported stolen from King Hall at 3:44 p.m. The crime was believed to have occurred Oct. 2 between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Tuesday, Oct. 7

A female student’s course book was reported stolen from her unattended book bag in the Pray-Harrold Eagle Cafe at 1:29 p.m. The crime was believed to have occurred Oct. 2 between 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. There are no suspects at this time and the crime is still under investigation.

A male student’s Eagle One card was reported stolen from the Olds/Robb Student Recreational Center at 1:31 p.m. The crime was believed to have occurred Sept. 13 between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. The card was fraudulently used and here are no suspects at this time.

Eastern Michigan University officers assisted Ypsilanti Police Department on a domestic violence call near West Cross Street.

A male suspect was identified by officers as being involved in another case on West Cross Street. After searching the suspect, officers found a marijuana pipe. The incident occurred at 10:22 p.m. and the suspect was cited for paraphernalia.

Wednesday, Oct. 8

A female student’s bike was reported stolen from the College of Business Parking structure at 4:36 p.m. The crime was believed to have occurred between 3:20 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. The female reported the crime after she thought she saw someone riding her bike away from the College of Business. There are no suspects at this time and the crime is currently under investigation.

Officers received a report from housing staff in Best Hall at 5:15 p.m. about a possible sexual assault. The alleged assault happened Oct. 7 at 12 a.m. The student reported to housing staff that they had someone in their room that later assaulted them. Officers are currently following up with the victim.

A motorcycle helmet was reported stolen from a motorcycle that was parked in the South Oakwood Parking Lot at 8:24 p.m. The crime was believed to have occurred between 4:30 p.m. and 8:10 p.m. There are no suspects at this time and the crime is currently under investigation.

A female student reported her backpack stolen after leaving it unattended in the Olds/Robb Recreation Facility at 10:48 p.m. The crime was reported to have occurred between 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Some of the items were recovered from the ground in the facility, however, some cash and other items were stolen. The crime is currently under investigation and there are no suspects at this time.

A man who had previously been trespassed was spotted by the Walton Hall parking meters at 5:41 p.m. He was cited for trespassing.

A female EMU employee reported her wallet stolen from a locker in the employee area for food service employees in the Student Center at 6:39 p.m. The crime was believed to have occurred between Oct. 7 at 6:39 p.m. and Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. There are no suspects at this time and the crime is currently under investigation.

Thursday, Oct. 9

A male student’s bicycle was reported stolen from Sill Hall at 6:50 p.m. The crime was believed to have occurred between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. There are no suspects at this time and the crime is currently under investigation.
