Opinions: 10 songs for your fall playlist

Fall is such a beautiful time of the year that is filled with color, freezing cold weather, and great music. This season is the perfect time for late night drives and brisk nature walks, which means you need the perfect playlist to match the occasion. In celebration of this time of year, here are ten songs that you should add to your fall playlist:

The first song is "Love Affair,” and it belongs to the late rapper Mac Miller. This song comes from his other alias Larry Lovestein. He released only one official album under this name yet it is packed with great soulful music. This is the perfect song to play when you're cuddled up with your significant other in this cold weather.

Next is an indie rock classic “Tommy’s Party” by Peach Pit, specifically the Audiotree live version. While the song is talking about a fun night at a party it gives a slow and reminiscent feeling. The calming chords played throughout the song can draw comparison to the falling of red, yellow and orange leaves.

This song, “Netflix and Dusse,” comes from a truly underrated talent named Smino. The St. Louis rapper comes in with his silky voice which is paired with this xylophonic beat, which creates an amazing song. Just like the song says, this is the perfect song to play while indoors having a good time.

Kali Uchis has been growing in popularity within the past few years. However, this song, “Speed" which was produced by Tyler the Creator comes from early on in her career. In an interview with Genius she said I wanted it to feel like you were riding into the sunset with your girls, and then the darkness comes and that’s when ‘Speed’ comes on.

Now this song is one of my favorites from this list. “Hey Kids” is a great Fall tune. The beat is psychedelic and almost decomposing, and this can make the listener feel as if they are endlessly free falling. That is why it pairs perfectly with the trees and nature around calmly dying. If you're looking for an alternative sound this is for you.

The famed r&b star SZA is more known for her album “Ctrl” but not many give credit to her other project “Z,” which is where this song “Warm Winds” comes from. Paired along with her dynamic label partner Isaiah Rashad they create a warming combination. This entire album including this song gives cool Fall energy.

The boy band Brockhampton is filled with talented members, one of them including Matt Champions.  “Mansions” is a dreamy single that is perfect for a late night drive. If any song imitates the cozy yet cold feeling of Fall it is this song.

Yves Tumor is a talented artist known for his experimental rock and alternative music. This dramatic single “Kerosene!" is one of his best works. This dark song is perfect for this time of the year and will send a chill down your spine.

Moses Sumney is a talented Ghana artist that gained attention after his Color Studios performance. “Polly” is a sad and uncomfortable song about love. It is filled with emotions and is just as colorful as the Autumn leaves.

Finally, this is one of Travis Scott's songs that often gets overlooked over his vast discography. Even though this song, “sdp interlude” is focused on partying and drugs it is a great song to listen to by yourself. If any rap song emulates fall vibes this is it.

That’ll wrap up this season of Echo song picks. Look for an article in the Winter to help your spruce up your new year playlists.
