Washtenaw deputy acquitted
- A federal court jury today acquitted a Washtenaw County sheriff’s deputy of civil rights violation in the 2006 asphyxiation of an Ypsilanti Township man.
- “I’m very happy,’’ suspended deputy Joseph Eberle said after a 12-member jury in Detroit acquitted him in the death of Clifton Lee Jr., who died after a scuffle with deputies and State Police after he intervened in a traffic stop involving Lee’s nephew.

- The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth reported today that the state jobless rate jumped six-tenths of a percentage point in October to 9.3%, the highest level since July 1992.
