For the fourth time in five seasons since Ron English was named head coach, the Eastern Michigan University football team has been picked to finish dead last in the Mid-American Conference West Division.

The voting of the conference’s preseason media poll was released during MAC Football Media Day at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich., yesterday.

The Eagles received 29 points, which was tied for last overall in the MAC with the University of Massachusetts Minutemen from the East Division.

Defending MAC champion Northern Illinois University received the most points in the West with 138 and 16 first place votes, while Ohio University was picked to win the East with 164 points and with 15 first place votes.

EMU head coach Ron English discussed the team’s expectations in an interview on emueagles.com during Media Day.

The Eagles’ training camp is set to begin on Aug. 4 and the season opener against Howard is Aug. 31, with a 6 p.m. kickoff and is available on ESPN3 and WEMU 89.1.
