Freedom Walls

Student Government is looking to be proactive, not reactive, to hate speech being painted on the Freedom Walls. The senators discussed how far they can go to monitor controversial messages on university property without infringing free speech.

"You can keep painting those words, but we will keep painting over them," said Taylor Lawrence, speaker of the senate.

Student Government discussed ways to monitor activity around the freedom walls, including  having a private camera. The university's camera in that area isn't in range of the walls.
