After four straight wins, Eastern Michigan’s women’s volleyball team found themselves sneaking into the MAC tournament. The team managed to win their first round matchup against Buffalo, 3-1, before falling to Ohio in the following round with a score of 1-3. Coming into the tournament as the lowest seed, being able to upset Buffalo in the first round is more than enough to deem their tournament berth successful.
Eastern Michigan University’s men’s basketball team traveled to Bloomington, Indiana to take on Indiana University, Nov. 24. The match marked the third game out of four for the Eagles during the Hoosier Tipoff Classic. EMU lost for the first time this year to Indiana by a final score of 67-87. The Eagles kept things close in the first half but just couldn’t manage to keep up with Indiana’s offense in the later stages of the game.
Eastern Michigan University’s men’s basketball team traveled to southern Florida for a match against the University of South Florida, Sunday, Nov. 26. The Eagles overcame a slim first half deficit to take the victory with a final score of 65-47. The Eagles played smothering defense in the second half which lead to the easy victory. The win marks the fifth in the season and gives them a 3-1 record in the Hoosier Tipoff Classic. The Eagles were lead in scoring by guard Paul Jackson who scored 15 with three other teammates joining him in scoring double digits.
After a what if season that was full of ups and downs, Eastern Michigan's (5-7, 3-5) 2017 season ended with a 34-31 win against the Falcons from Bowling Green State University (2-10, 2-6) Tuesday Nov. 21 at Rynearson Stadium.
The Eastern Michigan University’s women’s team started the 2017-18 season with a solid 83-61 win over the Rattlers of Florida A&M University, Friday, Nov. 10 at the Convocation Center.The Eagles (1-0) utilized a balanced scoring attack with ten players registering at least one point, and five scoring at least nine points. Offensively, EMU was more than efficient finishing 31-62 as a team from the field and 7-17 behind the three-point line. They also rebounded the Rattlers 44-40.
The Eastern Michigan University’s women’s volleyball team qualified for the MAC tournament following a streak of four wins straight that started on senior weekend against Western Michigan and Northern Illinois. From there, the Eagles took to the road to take on Central Michigan along with Kent State. In the final four matches of the season, Eastern only lost a combined three sets. With four straight victories, the Eagles found themselves in a four-way tie for seventh place in the conference with Central Michigan, Toledo and Northern Illinois. Thanks to the tiebreaker, the Eagles found themselves in the conference tourney along with Central Michigan. The tournament begins Nov. 16 in Oxford, Ohio. The team will take on fifth seeded Buffalo at 4:30 p.m. in the first round.
