According to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, the U.S. has accrued $1.2 trillion in student loan debt. While Eastern Michigan University has no way of determining exactly how much its current and former students owe, EMU’s students received $247,716,323 in aid from the university in the form of grants, scholarships, loans, stipends, tuition waivers and work-study programs.

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee filed a lawsuit on behalf of six plaintiffs, including write-in presidential candidate Fatma Jaber and Eastern Michigan University students, against EMU and Vice President for Government and Community Relations Leigh Greden Sunday morning in Washtenaw County Court. The lawsuit alleges that the results of the 2014 Student Government Presidential election were racially motived and Jaber, not Desmond Miller, should be named President of EMU Student Government.
Eastern Michigan University’s Student Senate met Tuesday night to ratify the 2014 Student Government Election results.

Parking lot closure at EMU
Eastern Michigan University has geared up to hire on a new associate vice president of Student Affairs for the institution. Three candidates, Calvin Phillips, John Berry and Timothy Wise, have been given the opportunity to present their plans, objectives and goals for EMU if they are elected to the campus community.
After six months and much frustration, the long wait for Eastern Michigan University students ended at 11 a.m. Wednesday when the Jimmy John’s at 537 W. Cross Street re-opened.
