More than 50 crimes involving sexual assault, theft, burglary, violence, vandalism, and harassments were reported on EMU’s campus within the first two months of the 2017 fall semester, according to the daily crime log.
Eastern Michigan University’s newest ad campaign “You Are Welcome Here” shows that the university is proud to be a second home to many of the international students who decided to come to the United States and study there. One of the many international students that the university is host to is Marawan Saadeldin, an urban planning major and GIS minor from Alexandria, Egypt. Saadeldin first came to America as a child, but traveled between it and Egypt throughout his teenage years.

The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) held their Our Voices Writing Workshop this past Thursday, Jan 18. This was the second workshop out of three they will be having, before their final performance where women students can give speeches, poems, and anything they’d like, to express their struggles. The next Workshop will be held on Monday, Jan. 22, from 6-8pm in the Student Center room 302. The final workshop before the finale performance will be on Jan. 24, at 6-8pm in room 360.
The Southeast Asian Student Association of Eastern Michigan University holds their first semi-formal cultural night to promote the unity and beauty of all Asian cultures.

Members of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), in collaboration with You Beautiful Black Woman (YBBW), and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., held a discussion in a safe and open environment in the Walton/Putnam lounge on Wednesday, January 17. The events' discussion was about whether or not there is toxic masculinity within the African American male community.
To some, the name Lily Collins might bring up movies such as “Abduction” with Taylor Lautner, “The Blind Side” with Sandra Bullock, or even “Mirror Mirror” with Julia Roberts. Music fans might recognize her last name and a quick Google search reveals that she is, in fact, the daughter of English musician Phil Collins. What some may not recognize her for yet, is her role as the character Ellen in the Netflix Original movie, “To the Bone”.
Honors Yoga, a program in collaboration with Ann Arbor’s A2Yoga, held a class Tuesday, Jan. 16 from 6p.m. to 7p.m. at Eastern Michigan University’s Honors College for interested students and faculty to reduce stress.
The Echo spoke with Maxwell Trombley, 21, the President of the Eastern Michigan University Choir, because recently the choir has had some amazing performance opportunities. The choir has taken domestic and international tours to the UK every year and this year they’ve had many exciting and unique opportunities.
