01049 -- EMU Echo Editor Endowed Scholarship:  Provides financial support for the current EMU Echo Editor.

02414 -- Scott Stephenson Eastern Echo Scholarship:  This expendable scholarship is for the benefit of student(s) in the School of Communication, Media & Theater Arts in the College of Arts & Sciences.  It will be awarded to a full or part-time junior or senior EMU student majoring in journalism and working for the Eastern Echo.  The student should be working to self-finance their education and not be eligible for need-based grants.

00825 -- Student Media Development:  Provides support for the Student Media program.

Comedienne to give inspiring lecture

On Wednesday, Oct. 17, Eastern Michigan University will be welcoming comedienne Sara Benincasa, who will give students an inspirational lecture followed by a question and answer session. The presentation, known as “AgoraFabulous,” is free and open to the public and will take place in the Student Center Auditorium from 7 – 8:30 p.m.

Transfer student’s project becomes college help site

Eastern Michigan University junior Nick Schlemper has developed a website to assist EMU students in various areas of college life. The site, www.CollegeGenius.net, is free to students and is currently up and running.

Black Homecoming kicks off Oct. 3

This year, Eastern Michigan University will be having its first Black Homecoming celebration. The week of events was created to encourage voter registration and raise educational awareness for African-American students, as well as other EMU students. The events are being presented by Celebrating Your Opportunity to Unite in alliance with a few other organizations including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Xi Chapter, Students for Obama, EMU Black Alumni Chapter and more.
