Yankee Air Museum to relocate at Willow Run bomber plant

A piece of history contiguous with Ypsilanti will be preserved for future generations because a remnant of the industrialized war effort from the World War II-era has been saved from destruction. After raising more than $5 million, the Yankee Air Museum will relocate into the old Willow Run bomber plant, and the move is scheduled to take place in the summer of 2017.

How safe is Ypsilanti?

In the past year, three homicides occurred in the area directly north of campus. In December 2012, junior communication and electronic media and film studies major Julia Niswender was presumably murdered in her apartment at Peninsular Place. The father of an EMU student was killed in a dispute in March 2013 in the same complex, and sophomore communication major and student-athlete Demarius Reed was found dead in the University Green apartments, down the street from Peninsular Place.

Bomber Plant is being threatened

Last Monday, on campus Teresa Gillotti, the city planner of Ypsilanti, presented a draft of the city’s Master Plan to a room of 20. (A very lackluster turnout when you consider the 18,914 stakeholders who attend the school.)

Local rehab center to hold event

On Sept. 8, Ann Arbor-based rehabilitation facility Dawn Farm will be celebrating its 40th anniversary with a free event, the Dawn Farm Jamboree, which will include auctions, music from soul and blues band NoteWorthy, hayrides and pony rides. The event is scheduled to be from 1-6 p.m.
