Halloween Downtown Ypsi is happening on October 28. This event is happening from 530 to 645 pm at 229 W Michigan Ave in Ypsilanti.

Halloween Downtown Ypsi plans to have trick or treating along with many other activities, including music and sweet treats.

“We'll have a costume contest with judges from the YCS school board. The BOO(k)mobile will be on hand. PBS will be there with Clifford the Big Red Dog. The Wolfpack Cruiserz will be handing out candy. DJ Lawrence will be there spinning music and entertainment,” Sam Killian, Community Relations Coordinator at the Ypsilanti District Library, said

Halloween Downtown Ypsi started at the library in 2011. This event is sponsored by YpsiReal, Downtown Development Association, and Spark East.

Pre Covid Halloween Downtown Ypsi would typically have 500 to 700 people show up. Nearby parking is available at the Key Bank parking lot at 301 W Michigan Ave.

“We're connecting with ypsiGLOW so many of our other events link up to that. We're having several workshops to make glowing items to bring to ypsiGLOW and the Halloween event will meet up with the procession on South Washington around 6:45 to join the ypsiGLOW festivities,” Killian said

The Ypsilanti District Library comprises three branches, with events being held year-round at different locations. Downtown Ypsilanti is the main branch where the Halloween events take place. The other YDL branches include Whittaker and Superior branches.

After Halloween downtown Ypsi ends, participants can walk to another popular Ypsilanti Halloween event, “ypsiGLOW” at 6:45 p.m.

Visit the Ypsilanti District Library website for more information.
