With just a few days until the women’s soccer season kicks off in earnest and the football and women’s volleyball campaigns not far behind, here are a couple of the top storylines to look forward to as the fall sport season begins.
Women’s soccer opens season at home against Cincinnati
On the heels of their first unbeaten season (5-0-3) at Scicluna Field since 1999, the women’s soccer team aims to extend their winning ways on home soil and begin their 2025 season with a win against non-conference foe Cincinnati.
Leading goal-scorer Olivia Sipsock (returning for her junior season), senior starting goalkeeper Ella Holland, and head coach Taylor Clarke (entering his second season) are determined to repeat the six-win improvement between 2023 and 2024. Repeating that improvement would almost certainly qualify the team for the season-ending Mid-American Conference tournament.
Fans can catch all the action for free on Aug. 14, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. at Scicluna Field or at home streaming live on ESPN+.
Women’s volleyball reveals full 2025 schedule
After an eight-win improvement from 2023 to 2024, the Eastern Michigan women’s volleyball program aims to continue their measured improvement heading into a new year, revealing their full season schedule late last month.
An exhibition match at home against Michigan State kicks things off for the squad on Aug. 23, with the regular season getting underway on Aug. 29 with a road match facing non-conference opponent Radford.
The Eagles’ first regular season home match sees the team pitted against Purdue Fort Wayne on Sept. 4, with subsequent home dates taking place against Valpo on Sept. 5 and Niagara on Sept. 6.
Two road matches against Oakland follow on Sept. 13 and Sept. 19, with Eastern Michigan officially kicking off conference play against Western Michigan on Sept. 25.
The green and white wrap up their regular season slate on the road against Miami University on Nov. 14 and 15. The postseason conference tournament will get underway on Nov. 21 if the Eagles qualify.
All home games will be hosted in the George Gervin GameAbove Center.
