The fall semester is in full swing! Spice up your week with some of these fun events happening on and around Eastern Michigan University's campus. 

EagleFest – Sept. 2, 2025

Meet more than 100 student organizations on campus, make new friends, and enjoy some food and games at EagleFest on Tuesday, Sept. 2! EagleFest is completely free and will take place in University Park from 4 to 7 p.m.   

Tinker's 1 Year Anniversary – Sept. 3, 2025

Don't miss this opportunity to celebrate facility dog Tinker's first year anniversary at EMU! This event will take place in the Halle Library in the Carillon Room from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The event is free, but attendees should RSVP using the Google form available on the EMU Today calendar.

NTG's Big 10! A Decades Themed Fundraiser – Sept. 5, 2025

Join the Neighborhood Theatre Group for a celebration of their tenth anniversary! On Sept. 5, they will hold a fundraising party at Ziggy's from 5 to 7 p.m. for their 10th Season of Theatre from Scratch. 

Attendees should dress in the style of their favorite decade. The event features a costume contest as well as live music, a cash bar and prize drawings. 

General admission tickets are $20. For higher ticket prices, attendees can also receive drawing tickets, NTG stickers, T-shirts and more. Tickets are available for purchase on ticketstripe.com

First Friday Food Court – Sept. 5, 2025

Enjoy delicious food and support local entrepreneurs at this community event in Ypsilanti! From 5 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 5, Growing Hope and First Fridays Ypsilanti will present the First Friday Food Court, where attendees can enjoy a family-friendly activity and sample food from local food entrepreneurs. There will be vegetarian and vegan options, and admission is completely free.

Wiard’s Orchards & Country Fair – Sept. 6, 2025

Grab some friends or family members and enjoy a fall Saturday at Wiard's Orchards and Country Fair! This event occurs 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekly on every Saturday and Sunday from Sept. 6 through Oct. 26. Attendees can enjoy donuts and cider and participate in a wide variety of fun activities, including apple and pumpkin picking, wagon rides, paintball, corn mazes and more. 

Weekend tickets cost $26 per person and are available for purchase on the Wiard's Orchards website. Babies 23 months and under may attend for free.

Ypsi Flea – Sept. 7, 2025

Don't miss this chance to snag some antique collectables or new artwork at the Ypsi Flea Market! This event offers free parking and admission, and food will be provided.

The Ypsi Flea Market will take place at 100 Market Place at the Depot Town Freight House in Ypsilanti from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Free T’ai Chi Intro – Sept. 8, 2025

Looking for a way to get moving and manage stress during these first few busy weeks of school? Look no further than this free introductory t'ai chi class on Monday, Sept. 8. Attendees will learn a few movements and about the benefits of t'ai chi. No experience is required. 

The Spiral Chi Center is located at 1980 E. Michigan Ave. in Ypsilanti, and the class will take place from 6 to 7 p.m.

Allie Beecher

Allie Beecher uses she/her pronouns, and has worked for The Eastern Echo since August 2024. She started as a copy editor, then moved to Copy Desk Chief in the 2025 summer semester. Beecher is a junior double majoring in Business and Public Relations. 

Her job entails supervising The Echo’s copy editing team, ensuring all the content is error-free, and reviewing all work to make sure it follows AP style guidelines. For her, the best part is being able to use her skills to make a difference in the EMU and Ypsilanti community.
