ESL Community Tutoring with Washtenaw Literacy — Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025

The Ypsilanti District Library invites people from the community for an English as a second language community learning experience.

Students who speak English as a second language can join the group to practice skills in English in an informal class setting.

The group will meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Nov. 25, 2025, in the Superior Meeting Room at the Ypsilantli District Library's Superior Township branch, located at 1900 Harris Road. Directions to the branch are available on the library’s website

There is no need to register, and participation is free. 

MI Fusion Connection & Brazilian Zouk — Friday-Sunday, Sept. 26-28

Students who haven’t yet heard about the Brazilian Zouk dance have an opportunity to learn the moves at the MI Fusion Connection event organized by the Rhizome Roots Studio in Ypsilanti. Three nights in a row of Fusion, Brazilian Zouk, and Blues dancing are scheduled for this weekend, offering opportunities for beginners and more advanced dancers.

Participants will learn some dancing skills and have a chance to practice those skills across three nights at the Concourse Hall in Ann Arbor. Each day, the event begins at 7 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m.

The Rhizome Roots Studio regularly hosts dance events at its Ypsilanti studio, located at 108 Pearl St., but the MI Fusion Connection event will take place in the Concourse Hall in Ann Arbor, located at 4531 Concourse Drive.

Event tickets range from $45 to $219 and are available online.

True Crime Murder Mystery Dinner Show — Saturday, Sept. 27

Dining in a restaurant might sound like an ordinary event, but what if the restaurant turns out to be a crime scene? Between a toast and a bite, guests might find themselves suspected of the crime during this dinner theater event staged at the Ann Arbor Marriott at Eagle Crest Resort, located at 1275 S. Huron St. in Ypsilanti.

The show offers an opportunity for those who love food and comedy to spend a mysterious evening at North America’s largest interactive comedy True Crime Murder Mystery Show. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and lasts two and a half hours.

General admission tickets include the dinner and the full show experience. Adding a suspect package is optional.

Bread and Puppet Fall 2025 Circus Tour — Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025

Founded in 1963, the Bread and Puppet Theater is one of the oldest nonprofit political theater organizations in the United States. This year, Bread and Puppet will be coming to Riverside Park, located at 2 E. Cross St. in Ypsilanti, to present Our Domestic Resurrection Revolution in Progress Circus. The show will take place at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28.

After the show, Bread and Puppet will serve sourdough rye bread and aioli. Attendees can also purchase books, posters, postcards, pamphlets and more from the Bread and Puppet Press.


Allie Beecher

Allie Beecher uses she/her pronouns, and has worked for The Eastern Echo since August 2024. She started as a copy editor, then moved to Copy Desk Chief in the 2025 summer semester. Beecher is a junior double majoring in Business and Public Relations. 

Her job entails supervising The Echo’s copy editing team, ensuring all the content is error-free, and reviewing all work to make sure it follows AP style guidelines. For her, the best part is being able to use her skills to make a difference in the EMU and Ypsilanti community.
