With Halloween 2025 right around the corner, Eastern Michigan University students and the Ypsilanti community can look forward to plenty of spooky Halloween events.
The following EMU events can be found on the EMU Today webpage, and Ypsilanti community events can be found on the Ypsi Real website. All events have little to no fee and are accessible for most ages.
Eastern Michigan University Events
Knight of Mystery
If you’re looking to solve a royal wedding mystery, this event might just be for you! It takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025 in the Student Center room 310, from 7-9 p.m.

Rocky Horror Picture Show
A screening of the cult classic movie-musical Rocky Horror Picture Show will take place in the Student Center auditorium on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025. This free event includes guided audience participation, a costume contest, prizes and more.

Halloween Celestial Origins
Astronomy may not usually be your first thought when someone mentions Halloween, but the rich history of Halloween’s celestial origins can be explored in EMU’s planetarium show on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025. The cost of this event is $5 and tickets can be found online at emich.ludus.com.

Ypsilanti Community Events
Trick-or-Treat Downtown Ypsilanti
Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025, 2-5 p.m., 114 W Michigan Ave.
Community members of all ages are welcome to trick-or-treat at businesses throughout downtown Ypsilanti, then meet at the Yours Truly Event Venue for a dance party, costume contest and snacks. The entry fee is $5.
Halloween Downtown at the Ypsilanti District Library
Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, 5:30-7 p.m., 229 W Michigan Ave.
Trick-or-treat in the library parking lot, meet and engage with local community organizations and check out the BOO-kmobile! The costume contest is back this year with prizes for winners, with the opportunity play mini golf, pet a costumed alpaca and compete for a free book from Ypsilanti Kiwanis. There is no fee for this event.
Trunk-or-Treat at the Ypsilanti Community Center
Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025, 1-3 p.m., 2025 E. Clark Rd.
Trick-or-treat with your community members at the Ypsilanti Community Center. Each child will receive a hot meal from a food truck. Those interested should email events.info@ypsitownship.org to reserve their space. There is no fee for this event.
Seventh Annual Halloween Fiesta at Maíz Mexican Cantina
Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, 9 p.m. to midnight, 36 E. Cross St.
Enjoy a Halloween fiesta at Maiz Mexican Cantina, with food, drinks and a live DJ. A portion of the proceeds will go to support Ypsilanti Community Schools. A photo booth will be on site to capture the memories. Those interested can join the pre-party at 7 p.m. for $25. General admission access starts at 9 p.m. with tickets selling for $10. Tickets are available on eventbrite.com. The event is for ages 21 and above.
All Hallows Illumination of Frog Island
Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, 6-9 p.m., 699 Rice St.
Bring your own jack-o'-lantern to share the Halloween magic with the community. LED lights will be provided, and there will be an artisan market to shop for spooky-themed homemade goods. There is no fee to attend this event.
