Huey Air Adventure Flights - July 17

Located at Thunder Over Michigan at the Willow Run Airport, air show fans can catch a ride in a Huey Helicopter by stopping by the Roush Aeronautics Center in Belleville, MI. The Thunder Over Michigan Air Show, presented by the Michigan Flight Museum, first began in 1999, showcasing mid-air tricks in its event meant for all ages. To take a trip in a Huey Helicopter, interested attendees can purchase tickets on the Michigan Flight Museum's website. Each ride ticket costs $125. Capacity for each helicopter ride is limited to 10 passengers. Flights are expected to last approximately eight minutes. 

Broadway Rave - July 17

Theatre lovers who want to see their favorite hits performed by Broadway guests and live DJs should check out Ann Arbor's upcoming Broadway Rave, hosted by The Blind Pig. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite on-stage character as they celebrate a night of musical theatre's biggest hits. Held July 17, 2026, music will start at 9 p.m. Tickets for 21+ attendees are $25, while participants under 21 can purchase tickets at $30. The Bling Pig is located at 208 S 1st St in Ann Arbor, MI. This event is 18+.

Byke Night - July 18

Hosted by the Ypsi Cocktail Club, celebrate Ypsi Pride with their upcoming "Byke Night," where attendees can take on a new butch persona, an identity associated with queer masculinity and lesbian culture. Guests can participate by getting fake tattoos, competing in arm wrestling competitions and enjoying dive bar drink deals. Attendees can also participate in a raffle, where the prizes are promised to be both amazing and terrible. Ypsi Cocktail Club is located in Downtown Ypsilanti. Admission is free. The event is set to last from 4-11 p.m. 

YCS Jazz in the Parking Lot - July 18 

Enjoy an evening of free live jazz music presented by Ypsilanti Community Schools. Featuring the Sean Dobbins and his trio, an activist, educator and performer, as well as hustle lessons by StarLisa Henderson, the event will begin at 6 p.m., with music starting at 7 p.m. Food trucks and community vendors will be located onsite, and all attendees under 18 eat for free with Meet Up Eat Up, a food bank based in Edmore, MI. Located at 2095 Packard Road, admission is free. The event is open to all ages. Enrollment information for Ypsilanti Community Schools will also be available for attendees. The event will last from 6-9 p.m. 


Gray Connor

Gray Connor uses they/he pronouns, and has worked for The Eastern Echo since August 2024. They started as newsletter editor, then moved to managing editor of operations in January 2026. For their undergraduate studies, Connor majored in media studies and journalism with a minor in public relations. 

For Connor, the best part of the job is getting to know other people and collaborating with other students who are just as passionate about journalism and justice.
