The Ypsilanti Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that took place at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday, in the 800 block of Huron River Dr.
The victim, a non-EMU student, reported having car trouble and while the car was stopped, he was approached by an unknown suspect according to an informational release from the EMU Police Department.
The suspect demanded the victim’s money while holding onto a weapon in his waistband. According to the victim, he sped off in his car and the suspect ran in the opposite direction.
There was no report of injuries.
The victim described the suspect as an African American male in his late teens, 5 feet 9 inches,with multiple earrings in each ear. The suspect was wearing a black mask on top of his head and a black puffy waist length coat that had yellow patches on the upper arms.
