An Eastern Michigan University student and a Washtenaw Community College student suffered non-life threatening injuries after being shot during a fight Wednesday night at Briardale Court in Ypsilanti Township.

Sheriff’s department spokesman Derrick Jackson said deputies responded to a call of shots being fired around 9 p.m.

Jackson said when deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered two gunshot victims, both 19-year-old men.

Police believe they were shot while inside a vehicle.

Both men were taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and are expected to make a full recovery, according to Jackson.

The two men are believed to be originally from Ypsilanti, Jackson said. The names of the victims are not being released yet.

No arrests have been made at this point.

“At this point, we’re trying to piece together what happened,” Jackson said. “Investigators are actively working.”
