Thanks to a grant from the UPSHER Institute for Civic Education, Eastern Michigan University will be participating in the Ethics Bowl for the first time at the collegiate level in November. The Ethics Bowl is a tournament put on by the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics that encourages students to examine and discuss different ethical dilemmas in a debate style setting.

Dr. You Li takes hosts Queso Tone and Herb Foreman through her process creating her most recent research project. Dr. Li recently completed her project about women journalists COVID-19 experiences and in partnership with The Eastern Echo ten podcast episodes have been created from her work. Eastern Michigan University volleyball player Hatteras Welker has been named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday, Sept. 23. This recognition marks the first MAC award for the Eagles this season and the first of Welker's collegiate career. The last Eagle to receive the accolade was Emma McMahon in November 2023.

The Eastern Michigan University football team put on a spectacular performance, shutting out visiting St. Francis University, 36-0, on Saturday, September 21. The Eagles (3-1) displayed an impressive range of scoring, notching touchdowns through a defensive fumble return, a rushing play, a blocked punt, and aerial strikes, marking their first shutout victory since 2008.
