On Tuesday, Sept. 17, the Ypsilanti City Council met for their second of two monthly meetings. The City Hall was lively with chatter beforehand, despite only about 10 people in total attending. Several people were also present via Zoom.

The Eastern Michigan University Eagles (2-1) will host St. Francis University (1-2) on Saturday, Sept. 21, inside "The Factory" at Rynearson Stadium. The Eagles are coming off a thrilling double-overtime victory against Jacksonville State, winning 37-34 in their home opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m., with the game being streamed on ESPN+ and broadcast on WEMU (89.1 FM).

After a solid start to the season, the Eastern Michigan University soccer team faced two narrow defeats during their road trip, falling 1-0 to both Valparaiso University on Thursday, Sept. 12, and Loyola University Chicago on Sunday, Sept. 15. Despite the setbacks, the Eagles remain optimistic as they head into Mid-American Conference (MAC) play.

Season four of "Emily in Paris" was worth the wait, having a second part to season four made the show even more interesting. This season focused on Emily's journey throughout Rome and finding what makes her happy. Emily and Mindy both go through a wind of heartbreaks and adventures this season.

On Sept. 12, Eastern Michigan University hosted a dedication ceremony in the new Christopher Kaufman Critique Atrium to celebrate the $3.4 million gift from the Windgate Foundation that broke ground in creating the new and improved 3D arts complex on campus.

The first game on Crosby Field showcased excellent defense from the Eagles as Jacksonville State scored a touchdown, taking a 6-0 lead. With nine minutes left in the first quarter, Tyler Mines (Homestead, Florida) led a drive for ten more yards. Marcus Allen (Tucker, Georgia) provided an opportunity for a touchdown, and thanks to Mines, the Eagles scored a touchdown, followed by a field goal from Jesús Gómez (Puebla, México/Prepa Tec Puebla).

"Speak No Evil," directed by James Watkins, was released in theaters on Sept. 13. This film is a remake of the 2022 original directed by Christian Tafdrup and Mad Tafdrup. Thrilling and full of dark humor, this film features James McAvoy as Paddy and Mackenzie Davis as Louise.

As chaplain for the Eastern Michigan University police department, the Rev. Bryan Schindel would often ride along with the patrolmen at night. Experiencing some of the crime occurring in the community, he said he was always thinking about the students and ways to lower crime rates.

Eastern Michigan University is one of the first colleges in the nation to participate in Welcome Corps on Campus, a program that allows refugee students to continue their higher education in the United States. Through grants and private donations, three students who are originally from Somalia, Syria and the Democratic Republic of Congo will be able to finish their degrees, fully funded, for the next four years.
