A bust of Martin Luther King Jr., created by Eastern Michigan University art student Nancy Sippel, was unveiled on January 15, 1990, during the university's Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations. The bust now resides in a plaza between Welch Hall and Boone Hall on campus.
