As a part of the Department of Jewish studies Speaker Series, Eastern Michigan University welcomed Israeli singer/songwriter and peace activist, David Broza for a film screening and conversation about his recent documentary, “East Jerusalem/West Jerusalem,” Saturday evening in the Student Center auditorium.

Open Mic Night allows students to express themselves through music

Students looking for the more artistic side of Eastern Michigan University found the perfect place to express themselves at Open Mic Night last Thursday. Not only did the event offer free food provided by Campus Life, such as chicken wings and fruit, but it also gave students, like freshman Ryan Harris, a chance to rap in front of a live crowd.

Pros and cons of box office hit, The Martian

The Martian, directed by Ridley Scott, starring Matt Damon, has done phenomenal in the box office and it isn’t hard to see why. The movie dominated during September opening weekend and continued on an upscale in October, generating an estimated $11.7 million over Halloween weekend. In a five-week period, the total cumulative earnings came to about a whopping $183.1 million.
