The Eastern Michigan University women’s gymnastics team finished its regular season strong at home, coming in second out of four teams at the Eagle Invitational. EMU had an overall team score of 194.575, which is its second highest score of the season after scoring 194.675 at South East Missouri State.

The Eastern Michigan University Flying Squirrels Quidditch team traveled down the road to Ann Arbor for their second tournament of the season Oct. 28. Despite not having an official from the International Quidditch Association, the Squirrels picked up a victory against the Downriver Dragons by 100 points, but lost again to the University of Michigan 70-10.

The film industry is going through an era of creative collapse. There is a lack of ideas for films, stories and generally how to scare people anymore. Almost everything is a remake or a sequel. So during this Halloween season, instead of going to see another shaky-camera, cheap-thrill horror movie, look to the past for the greatest horror movies of all time.

The glory days of the Detroit Pistons from the 2004-05 seasons of the NBA are long gone. Today, the team is in rebuilding mode with young talent but very little experience. What might be a hard coming season for the team this year could be a good step for the team if their young players learn to adapt.

Both the Eastern Michigan University men’s and women’s swim and diving teams will be opening their seasons at home Oct. 6 at the Green and White Meet, which is an inner squad meet where the swimmers will go up against their own teammates to start off the year before they face their first competitive meet against Northwestern Oct. 18.

Spencer Slade has returned home to Michigan to play his senior year of the men’s golf season for Eastern Michigan University. This will be his first year playing for EMU after transferring during his sophomore year from Savannah State University, a small school in Georgia with less than 5,000 students, where he played his freshman year.

The Eastern Michigan football team played its best game of the season so far, but still came up short losing 23-7 to the 21st ranked Michigan State Spartans (3-1). The Eagles had a 7-3 lead going into the half, but were unable to score a point after halftime as the team wasn’t able to keep up with the Spartan’s offense.

The Eastern Michigan University women’s soccer team picked up its first win of the season on Aug. 26 with a 1-0 win over the Butler Bulldogs, moving their overall record to 1-1-1. The game was scoreless throughout, with the Eagles having several early attempts on goal. The team wasn’t able to score until the sixty-fifth minute of play.
