Coach Rob Murphy felt like Eastern Michigan University let one slip away against No. 21-ranked University of Massachusetts Minutemen at the Convocation Center Tuesday night. “I thought we were just as good and were the better team for a half, Murphy said.

Women’s basketball sets records with 120-35 win

With four Eagles having career days and doing it in record-setting style, the Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team broke its single-game-points-scored record by cruising to a 120-35 non-conference win on Saturday at the Convocation Center.



Lee scores 38 off the bench as EMU moves to 5-0

After scoring six points against Cleveland State University, Ray Lee responded with a vengeance by scoring a career-high 38 in EMU’s 74-69 win over the University of Texas at Arlington on Saturday night at the Convocation Center to move to 5-0 for the first time since the 1996-97 season. Lee was on top of his game as he went 5-for-5 from three-point range, 12-for-15 shooting and 9-for-12 from the foul line.

EMU women move to 3-0 with a 84-70 win over Cleveland State

Behind 19 points from redshirt junior Olivia Fouty, the Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team moves to 3-0 for the first time since the 2009-10 season with a 84-70 road win over the Cleveland State University Vikings at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Fouty scored 19 on 7-of-14 shooting, 1-of-3 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the foul line to go along with five rebounds and four assists. “I am not as hesitant to get my shot blocked,” Fouty said about her willingness to go after the ball more on WEMU Radio’s Postgame. Freshman guard Cha Sweeney added 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting and 7-of-10 from the charity stripe to go along with four assists and three steals in 32 minutes. Off the bench, Jamaica Bucknor put a solid effort together with nine points and eight rebounds in 18 minutes. For Cleveland State (1-2), juniors Imani Gordon and Cori Coleman each scored 15 points. Junior guard Kiersten Green scored 13 on 4-of-11 from the field, 2-of-5 from three-point range and 1-of-3 from the foul line to go along with four rebounds.

For two years, Eastern Michigan University students lost to alumni in the annual Students vs. Alumni basketball game. That changed Thursday, when the students left the Convocation Center with a 76-74 victory.

Lee scores a career-high 21 as EMU moves to 3-0

Redshirt freshman guard Ray Lee shook off a slow start and scored a career-high 21, including a three-point make over Robert Morris University freshman forward Jeremiah Worthem to end the first half. “I feel like we got over the hump because we’ve never played against a team that got into us man-to-man this season,” Lee said.


Fouty and Morton combine for 43 in EMU’s overtime win against Butler

Redshirt junior forward Olivia Fouty’s game expanded as she made four three-point shots to lead Eastern Michigan University to a win over Butler University 81-76 in overtime at the Convocation Center. Fouty scored 20 and shot 6-of-10 from the field and took her game to a whole new level on this night with her outside shooting. “Over (the) last six months, Olivia has improved her game,” EMU head coach Tory Verdi said.


Students vs. Alumni basketball game heads to Convo

For two years, Eastern Michigan University students have been on the losing side in the annual Students vs. Alumni basketball game at the REC/IM. Senior co-captain Dominique Wade said he hopes this year is different.

PREVIEW: Men's basketball set to open regular season vs. Albion

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team put on a strong showing in its only exhibition game of the year, with a 101-38 rout of Marygrove College on Monday. The team is setting its sights on the start of the regular season Friday afternoon against Albion College at the Convocation Center.




	Freshman guard Cha’Ron Sweeney led the way for EMU on Tuesday with 20 points on 7-of-18 shots and 4-of-6 from the free-throw line to go along with three steals.

Women's basketball team defeats Wayne State, 85-76

Behind back-to-back three-point makes in the final minutes of the second half from freshman guard Haley Moore, the Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team defeated the Wayne State University Warriors, 85-76 in an exhibition game at the Convocation Center.
