Eastern Michigan University sophomore Brett White was added to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference honorable mention list when the conference announced its men’s golf scholastic honors, June 4. White, who plans on majoring in supply chain management, boasts a 3.49 GPA. This is the first year he has been eligible for the accolade.
Eastern Michigan University’s men’s golf team smashed their way into a sixth place finish at the Rutherford Invitational in University Park, PA. The Eagles were looking to improve after finishing in last place at the Kepler Intercollegiate tournament last weekend before they head to the MAC Championship in Carmel, Ind. The Eagles shot 881 as a team on the par 71, 7,202-yard Penn State University Blue Course, April 19-20.
The school year is quickly winding down and with it ends an eventful year for Eastern Michigan University’s athletic teams. As part of my weekly appearances on E-TV’s Eagles Sports Update, I share my “Eagle of the Week” – a player or coach who stands out to me for their performances in the week leading up to the show. For this, the final issue of the school year (not counting the summer semester), I have compiled a list of my Eagles of the Year for all of EMU’s sports, as well as for some specialized categories.
The Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team competed in the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio over the weekend. They finished in 15th place overall, shooting 926 as a team. This marks their lowest placement of the season.
Women’s Golf grabbed a 2nd place finish this weekend at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational. This marks their third top- five finish of the season, and their second top five finish in the last two tournaments.
The Eastern Michigan University women’s golf team nabbed a top-10 finish at the University of Arkansas Little Rock Golf Classic. The tournament was held in Hot Springs, Ark. over a two-day period, March 24-25.
The Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team competed in the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate tournament from March 23-25. The team played some of its best golf all season, finishing in seventh place out of the 27 teams participating in the tournament, shooting 879 as a team.
The Eastern Michigan University women’s golf team competed in the Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz., March 7-9. It finished the tournament in seventh place.
The Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team took to the course in Dade City, Fla. for the USF Invitational on March 3-4. The Eagles finished in a season-low 13th place.
The Eastern Michigan University women’s golf team finished in 13th place out of a 14-school field at the Westbrook Invitational held Feb 23-24.

The Eastern Michigan University women’s golf team is off to New Braunfels, Texas to compete in the Jim West Challenge at the Bandit Golf Club. Like the men’s team, should weather hold up, the lady Eagles are looking at temperatures from the mid 70’s to low 80’s. The Eagles are geared for the rest of their season.

It is no easy task to balance playing sports and academics, but 32 Eastern Michigan University student-athletes achieved both and then some by finishing the Fall 2013 semester with a 4.0 grade point average.
The Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team finished 11th out of 14 teams at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate, hosted by Indiana University Oct. 14-15.

The women’s team finished tied for third, in a field of 16, at the Mid-American Conference Preview, at the Hawthorns Golf and Country Club, in Fishers, Ind. Oct 7-8.
