Campus: Aug. 30- Money was taken from a purse at 11:08 a.m. from the Village Building E. Aug. 31- A truck window was smashed around midnight in Rynerson Lot. Doughnuts were stolen at 11:08 a.m.


	After a long trip from New York, an I-beam from the World Trade Center’s south tower will be placed on Eastern Michigan University’s campus. The beam will be set as a memorial before the tenth anniversary of the attacks arrives.

Campus: Aug. 26 – Two suspects were issued trespassing citations at 4:08 p.m. in Boone Hall. Aug.

EMU campus switches bank

Chase Bank will open a branch in Eastern Michigan University’s Student Center in a space previously housed by TCF Bank. A release sent out by the bank said students can expect to see bankers moved in completely by mid – October. The branch will have two teller windows, an ATM, lobby workstations for personal bankers and two customer conference rooms, according to the release. The bank plans to install five walk-up ATMs on campus including one at the new branch and on the second floor in the Student Center, one in Pray-Harrold, one in the Eastern Eateries and one in the REC-IM building.

According to data gathered by the Office of Institutional Research and Information Management at Eastern Michigan University, the zip code with the greatest number of students, faculty and staff residing for the fall semester is 48197.

Fall applications, admissions rise

The Eastern Michigan University Division of Student Affairs and Management is reporting an increase in student applications and admissions for this fall.


	Robert Heighes, who has 28 years experience in the Department of Public Safety, is 1995 Eastern graduate.

Heighes rehired as interim chief

For the second time in four years, Lieutenant Robert Heighes has been named interim Chief of Police to Eastern Michigan University’s Department of Public Safety.

Campus: Aug. 15- At 3:08 p.m., bike was stolen from the Ford Hall bike racks. Aug. 16- A subject was cited for open intoxicants in a motor vehicle and littering at 1: 08 a.m.

Although 15 credits is the standard workload all students are encouraged to attempt during their freshman year, it’s become increasingly common for students to take fewer.

EMU ranked as a top gay-friendly university

Eastern Michigan University was recently named one of the top gay-friendly universities in the country by the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender-friendly Campus Climate Index. The Campus Climate Index was developed in 2001 by a team of LGBT researchers as a response to campuses needing a way to assess their LGBT-friendly practices and policies.



EMU parking reconfigured

Ongoing construction might be the most visibly noticeable change to parking at Eastern Michigan University, but prices have been affected this semester as well.


Get a Pray-Harrold preview

On the first day of classes, returning students and faculty members can expect to see an array of noticeable and subtle changes in Pray-Harrold, the 235,000 square foot classroom building on Eastern Michigan University’s campus.

EMU chosen to house 9/11 artifact

An artifact from the September 11 tragedy has found a new home at Eastern Michigan University after the university was selected by the New York Port Authority according to university officials.

Campus: June 21- At 1:50 p.m., a subject was arrested on West Michigan Avenue and Adams Street for possessing a stolen license plate and providing false information to police.
