KALAMAZOO – With the Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team having such a hot start to the season, coming out flat against Western Michigan University on Saturday was somewhat of a surprise, especially for the team’s leading scorer Tavelyn James.

Six faculty members were awarded Faculty Research and Creative Activity Fellowships. All recipients will be relieved from their teaching duties and given up to $3,000 to assist them with their projects.

Notebook: Injured Dobbins expected to miss 3-4 weeks

Carlos Medlock, Brandon Bowdry and Justin Dobbins are a formidable trio for Eastern Michigan University when they’re on the court, but they can’t seem to get healthy at the same time. Dobbins is the latest to suffer an injury. He fractured his fibula and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.

Eastern Michigan University is giving mentors and students a chance to work together on campus. Brandon Pomish, head of the Pittman Hall construction project, wanted to get students involved in the project to give them education beyond the classroom.

Hope Clinic holds campus book drive

What is a student going to do with his/her used textbooks? Selling them back to the bookstore is the obvious answer, but he/she can use them to make a difference. A textbook donation drive is being held now through the 14th. Students can donate their old books, and the money will go to the Hope Clinic.

Dr. Paul (Joe) Ramsey was struggling with his undergrads. Ramsey, an assistant education professor at Eastern Michigan University, wasn’t seeing his students making the proper connections in his SOFD 328-W class, Schools for a Diverse and Democratic Society.

White House Project lends women political patronage

For hundreds of years, politics has been a man’s game. The White House Project is determined to change that. The project is a non-profit organization whose goal is to get women into politics and leadership roles. It is done through teaching women how to run campaigns.
