EMU’s women’s track and field team could not gain any traction Saturday at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind., placing last out of five teams. Purdue won the invitational with 124 points followed by Notre Dame’s 100, Michigan State’s 98, Indiana State’s 89.5 and EMU’s 53.5.

Junior pole-vaulter Ellie Braidic was the lone champion for the Eagles, tying for first in the pole vault with Michigan State’s Sarah Birkmeier with a 4 meter vault. EMU sophomore Natalie Uy also had a 4 meter vault on the day, but because it took her more attempts than her competitors, she placed third.

Freshman Dace Dreimane also found success Saturday, placing second in the triple jump. Dreimane with a jump of 12.33 meters/40 feet 5.5 inches. Dreimane’s jump tied Indiana State winner Jamie Newsome’s distance, but Newsome won on criteria.

The Eagles hope to get back on track against Central Michigan University Friday, Jan. 30.
