As of Dec. 5, the latest crime reported in the city of Ypsilanti was on Dec. 2. The following crimes were reported during the week of Dec. 1 through Dec. 5.

Making false report - An individual was reported as making a false UDAA report on Dec. 1 at 7:00 p.m. A UDAA report, or an Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile report, is a report of a stolen vehicle. The alleged crime was reported on Dec. 2 at 8:52 p.m. The crime occurred on Oakwood Street. As of Dec. 5 this case is open.

Note: In the Eastern Michigan University (EMU) Police Daily Crime Log this crime was reported as a a "false UDDA report”. After consulting with officers from both the City of Ypsilanti Police Department and the EMU Department of Public Safety, it was determined that this was a typographical error of UDAA.

False fire alarm - An individual was reported as fallaciously activating the fire alarm at the Gary M. Owen, College of Business building (300 W. Michigan Ave.). The crime occurred at 5:40 a.m on Dec. 1. As of Dec. 5, this case is closed.

Note: EMU has sold the Gary M. Owen building to a private buyer, as of April 23. The university still occupies the building, however, with plans to finalize a move to Hill Hall by the end of the Fall 2020 semester.

Obstructing police - An individual was reported as obstructing police by fleeing a traffic stop. The alleged crime occurred near the intersection of Ballard Street and West Cross Street at 5:51 p.m on Dec. 1. As of Dec. 5 this case is open.
