The Ypsilanti Black Lives Matter mural at the entrance of Riverside Park in Depot Town was defaced on Sept. 19. The words “Black Lives” were covered in white paint, while the word “Matter” was left untouched.

Eastern Michigan University holds memorial in honor of the twenty year anniversary of 9/11

Eastern Michigan University held it’s annual 9/11 Ceremony of Remembrance on Saturday morning at Pease Park, dedicating a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., marking the time the first plane struck New York’s World Trade Center.  The EMU 9/11 Memorial features a 7,000 lb. steel beam from the World Trade Center. Markings on it indicate it is from the 74th floor of the South Tower -- four floors below where the second plane hit.
