Over the course of the past few days, the world around us has seemed to come to a halt. Almost every major sports league has put an indefinite pause to their seasons, such as the NBA, PGA, and MLB. Even March Madness has been cancelled. While I think these cancellations are just, I don’t think the NBA and NCAA should just throw this season away entirely.

After former Vice Pres. Joe Biden’s big win in Michigan, it looks unlikely that Sen. Bernie Sanders will face Pres. Donald Trump. On Feb. 22, things looked different. Sanders had just won the Nevada caucus by more than 25 points. The centrist vote was split between Biden, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg. As long as these three candidates remained in the race until after Super Tuesday, things were looking good for Sanders.

Going into election night, Michigan was considered a must-win for Sanders. Many of his surrogates and pundits/pollsters pointed to his 2016 upset, suggesting it could very well happen again. Others weren’t so sure. I fell solidly into the latter category.

In 2018, Michigan cemented its status as a state to look at for electoral reforms, as all three 2018 referenda passed handily. While Proposal 1 legalized recreational marijuana in the state, Proposals 2 and 3 addressed such issues as gerrymandering and voter access, both passing with over 60 percent “yes" votes.

After making yet another historic comeback to music with his latest album, Eminem dropped a new music video that blows ‘stans’ minds. The new visual is for “Godzilla,” the highest charting single from new album “Music to Be Murdered By,” delivered on March 9. Directed by Lyrical Lemonade’s videographer Cole Bennett, you can expect a very entertaining story from the mind of Slim Shady.

I was in downtown Ypsi last week and walking out of a poetry slam event at the Riverside Arts Center with a friend when I realized how hungry I was. Being in the downtown area and being a vegetarian, I couldn’t really think of any good go-to restaurants that wouldn’t be super expensive.

In my time as a student at Eastern Michigan University, I’ve grown to learn that one particular teenager is seen as famous in Ypsilanti. Emoni Bates, the Lincoln High School phenom that has been regarded as one of the best high school players since LeBron James and Zion Williamson, is loved in his city and nationally watched.

If I could sum up the entirety of this past season for EMU’s basketball team in one word, that word would be "inconsistent." Losing games they were favored to win and winning games they weren’t has been the theme of this season. When you play like that, your record probably isn’t going to boast anything special.

“Toxic” is a word permeating popular culture; cultural and political problems are often boiled down to “toxicity” and people end their relationships with their “toxic” friends and partners at the urging of online armchair psychologists and “relationship experts.” If someone’s behavior is somewhat off-putting or they do you harm, whether intentionally or unintentionally, then they’re supposedly toxic. The term is used so often that it was Oxford Dictionary’s Word of the Year in 2018.
