Baseball set to take on WSU

After traveling to North Carolina for a shortened series against Campbell University, the Eastern Michigan University baseball team (1-1) will travel out west to Pullman, Wash., for a four-game series against the Washington State University Cougars (1-2).

Tigers’ Cabrera clear choice for MVP award

As if winning the American League Triple Crown wasn’t enough, Detroit Tigers’ third baseman Miguel Cabrera was voted the AL’s Most Valuable Player Nov. 15. Cabrera is the first Tigers position player to win the MVP since Hank Greenberg in 1940.

Tigers beat Yankees, NY loses injured Jeter

The Detroit Tigers took on the New York Yankees in game one of the American League Championship Series Oct. 13. This is their third ALCS in the last seven years. Earlier in the season, many were calling for manager Jim Leyland to lose his job, based on questionable decision making with his lineups.

Cabrera 1st to win award in 45 years

Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera made history Oct. 4, by earning the Triple Crown award. He is the first player in 45 years to win the award, which is given to the player who leads his league in the following three categories: batting average, home runs and runs batted in.

Eagles lose to Kent, then do wind sprints

After a 5-0 loss to Kent State on Sunday, the Eastern Michigan Eagles lined up on the far corner of Oestrike Stadium and began sprinting back-and-forth, a clear indicator the defeat wasn’t exactly an ordinary loss.
