EMU basketball spring break results

While EMU students took last week off, the men’s basketball team continued to work, but fell short by going 1-2 during break. The Eagles began the mid-winter break with a 73-65 victory Feb.

Senior spotlight: Mike Talley III Talley will leave EMU at the end of the season reaching past the 1,000 point plateau for his collegiate career and brought plenty of experience to the Eagles in his two years playing for the green and white. Position: Guard Age: 22 Major: Sports Management Hometown: Detroit High School: Melvindale Academy of Business and Technology Talley transferred to EMU after two years at Duquesne.Talley transferred to EMU because he wanted to be closer to home. “Coach Murphy had some influence on my decision,” Talley said.

EMU downs Ball State in last road game of regular season

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team traveled to Muncie, Ind. and avenged an early season loss against Ball State by defeating the Cardinals 67-60 in their second matchup of the season. With the win, the Eagles finish the regular season 4-9 on the road, but EMU head coach Rob Murphy views this win as a big one moving forward, despite Ball State’s abysmal 2-15 conference record. “I thought tonight was a very good road win for us,” Murphy said.

Karrington Ward MAC West Player of the Week

Earning Player of the Week honors is a sign of Karrington Ward’s improved health, and Eastern Michigan University will need him as the stretch run of the season with the Mid-Atlantic Conference tournament not far away.

Karrington Ward ignored any remaining pain in his injured ankle to lead the Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team to an 83-69 home victory over Miami of Ohio.

Rockets crush Eagles with 84-60 win

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team ran across a horrific loss after competing against the University of Toledo. With a final score of 84-60, the Eagles stood no chance against the Rockets, as they maintained a lead over the Eagles the entire game.

Eagles victorious over Broncos

Mike Talley scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team to a 69-63 victory over in-state rival Western Michigan.

Eagles Wipe the Floor With Bobcats 76-40

After two consecutive losses during MAC play, the Eastern Michigan University Eagles came back to the Convocation Center and pulled out a 76-40 blow-out win against the Ohio Bobcats. This is the largest margin of victory the Eagles have achieved since 2004 and the biggest win in a Mid-American Conference tournament since 1997. The Eagles finished the first half with a leading score of 31-16; averaging 44.8 in field goal percentage, 11.1 percent from behind the arc, and 100 percent from the free throw.

EMU women's basketball defeats Toledo Rockets 75-61

Eastern Michigan University's women's basketball team earned and impressive win against the Toledo Rockets, beating the MAC west competitor 75-61 this Saturday in Toledo. This game marks the first MAC road victory for the Eagles (10-7), and places them at 3-3 in conference.

Catching up with EMU Women's Basketball

The Eastern Michigan lady Eagles continued conference play as the Winter semester got underway taking on both Ohio University and Bowling Green State University last week. The ladies suffered a loss to Ohio but earned a win against BGSU, putting their record at 8-7 overall and 1-3 in the Mid-American Conference.
