CEO club holds annual Sesi Midwest Regional Entrepreneurship Conference

Eastern Michigan University’s Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization, or the CEO club, held the annual Sesi Midwest Regional Entrepreneurship Conference on Friday at the EMU Student Center. The conference featured two keynote speakers and two breakout sessions where attendees could choose from a pair of lecturers they wanted to hear speak.

Colleen Wieck gives lecture on special education

In honor of the 100-year anniversary of Eastern Michigan University’s Department of Special Education, Porter Chair Speaker Colleen Wieck gave a lecture in the Student Center Wednesday about special education. Wieck is director of the Minnesota Governor’s Council on Development Disabilities, and she is the third guest speaker in the 2013-2014 Porter Chair Speaker Series at EMU.

EMU lecturers receive layoff notices

For years, Pam Olech has been one of Eastern Michigan University’s many full-time lecturers in charge of observing and advising student teachers. But her position has been threatened due recent layoffs within the EMU College of Education.



	Lucas hit .235 last season with 5 home runs and 27 RBI’s. The center fielder also stole 3 bases.

Feb. 7 Officers were called to Hoyt Hall for a verbal argument between a male student and a female student at 12:30 a.m. The dispute did not turn physical and the two students went to their respective rooms after police arrived.

Lunch and Learn session— Eastern Michigan University is providing a chance for people to engage in an event titled “Do One Thing: Emergency Preparedness for the Whole Community.”

Chiara Hensley named new ombuds

The Office of the Ombuds is located in the Student Center room 240 and open for any student experiencing challenges on campus. According to Hensley, the office handles a wide variety of student concerns including communication with professors, conduct issues, grade grievances, academic dismissal, tuition, medical appeals, billing issues and financial aid concerns. The Office of the Ombuds may also assist students with any other problems that they may encounter during their time at Eastern Michigan University.

Actors Annie Rix and Chris Beier of Chicago-based Catharsis Productions presented their funny yet serious show called “Sex Signals” last Wednesday to try and touch on this subject. They kept the audience going with humor and discussion on how to approach sex and prevent rape.

EMU alumna turns 105— Eastern Michigan University alumna Pat Crouch turned 105 on Thursday. Crouch earned her degree from Michigan Normal College, now known as Eastern Michigan University.

Student Government holds off-campus housing fair

Eastern Michigan University’s Student Government sponsored the Off-Campus Housing Fair on Thursday as part of EMU’s Safety Week. The event was held at the Student Center on campus and was designed to help students talk to different leasing professionals around Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor about the security they provide to their tenants.


Julez DeShetler and Queso Tone catch up after a short hiatus due to illness and someones birthday. The pair talk about their semesters and the final big events of the year, the Eastern Echo Media Gala and Rock The Patio. The latter playing host to Eagletainment's very own Queso Tone as a musical performance, with the shows closing act Anthony Roperti a former guest of the show.
