In Search Of Sun, a heavy metal band based in London, has released their debut album, “The World Is Yours,” this fall. It seems that this 5-piece band, formerly known as Driven, has discovered ten different ways to say, “I’m so angry!”
Yes, very impressive.
The band’s skill is remarkable and brings a great addition to the heavy metal genre. However, the clever guitar riffs are not enough to make a great album. Adam Leader, the band’s frontman and lead vocalist, has a voice that weaves in and out of screaming and warbling some frankly ordinary lyrics. The words to well-formatted songs fall flat and do not have any sort of variety or originality.
Heavy metal bands are not that hard to come by, which makes being unique quite tricky. In Search Of Sun can be neatly categorized into a box we keep all the other contemporary metal bands in. It isn’t because of a lack of talent, because In Search Of Sun has proved their ability to bring in some rockin’ riffs and harmonies with this album. Their real problem is not having a hook. There isn’t anything memorable to catch their listeners’ interest and keep them listening.
