The Eastern Michigan University women's soccer team lose their final two non-conference games over the weekend against Illinois State and Detroit Mercy at Scicluna Field in Ypsilanti, MI.

In the Eagles first match-up over the weekend, EMU Senior Ellie Tillar scored the first goal of the game in the 13th minute – her third straight goal of the season. After showing relentless defense over the next 29 minutes before the Redbirds even the score 1-1.

Trading possessions in the midfield the Redbirds took the lead after a courtesy goal and fed off the momentum by adding another strike three minutes later. Lauren Koehl dribbled the ball and hit a strike on EMU's defense.

Trailing 3-1, EMU would score in the 64 minute from Freshman Sabrina McNeil – her first career goal. The Eagles however, could not keep the momentum on their side due another goal by ISU's Koehl as they would lose 4-2.

EMU look to respond against the Titans of Detroit Mercy Sunday afternoon. No extreme shooting from either teams as each finished with only four shots combined in the first.

The Eagles gained a 1-nil lead over the Titans and the game was in their favor before a clutch 76th minute goal by Detroit's Anna Mindling – her fifth of the season. Both teams would draw extra minutes after each goalkeepers kept the score even at 1-1.

A free kick inside midfield would eventually set up Detroit Mercy's second goal of the day by Kristen Tobin in the 94th minute as the Eagles lose their second straight 2-1.

Non-conference play is all wrapped up for the Eagles as they open up Mid-American Conference play on the road as they travel to Kalamazoo to face the Broncos of Western Michigan. The game time set against the reigning MAC Tournament Champion is set for 4 p.m. Saturday September, 25.
