Police Blotter: April 29- May 11, 2019

The police blotter is a collection of the criminal going-ons at Eastern Michigan University for the weeks of April 29 through May 11.

Monday, April 29

An aggravated assault between family members was reported at 219 N HURON ST. The incident, where a gun was present, happened at 8:57 p.m. The case closed May 1.

A habitual panhandler was cited for trespassing at College Place and Cross at 2:14 p.m. The case closed the next day.

Tuesday, April 30

An assault with a weapon occurred between family members at 721 West Clark Road at 2:22 a.m. on April 30. The case closed May 3.

A campus security authority reported a third degree sexual assault that occurred on September 20, 2017 in Downing Hall. The crime was reported on April 20, 2019 at 3:34 p.m. and the case is currently open. Delayed Third party report of a sexual assault in a Residence Hall

A driver was found with a suspended license during a routine traffic stop at South Huron Street and westbound I-94. The stop occurred at 6:07 p.m. and the case closed May 6.

EMU police assisted with an arrest on Railroad Street and Leforge Road at 6:43 p.m. when a driver was found operating while intoxicated. Open liquor containers were also found in the vehicle. Their license was suspended, and the case remains open.

Wednesday, May 1

No crimes reported

Thursday, May 2

Suspects swindled the cashier at 819 North Huron Street between 5:06 and 5:36 p.m. on May 1. The crime was reported on May 2 at 2:41 p.m. and the case remains open.

Friday, May 3

A case of credit card and check fraud were reported at Pierce Hall at 3:13 p.m. The case remains open.

A driver was cited for an open liquor container and operating with a suspended license during a traffic stop at West Michigan Avenue and Hamilton Street. The stop occurred at 6:00 p.m. and the case closed May 3.

Saturday, May 4

An individual left the Student Center paid lot improperly around 5:39 p.m. The case is currently open.

An individual was found driving with a suspended license at 819 North Huron Street. The stop occurred at 7:28 p.m. and the case closed the next day.  

Sunday, May 5 

An individual fled on foot from a traffic stop that occurred at North Huron Street and West Forest Avenue. The stop occurred at 12:29 a.m. and the subject was driving without a license and cited for resisting an officer. The case is currently open.

 

Monday, May 6

A female student reported a third degree sexual assault by their girlfriend. The assault occurred between January 1 and January 2, 2017 in Hoyt Residence Hall. The case remains open.

An individual driving with a suspended license was stopped at 815 North Huron Street at 6:49 p.m. The case closed May 11.

Tuesday, May 7

A driver was arrested for operating under the influence and possession of prescription medicine during a traffic stop at Huron River Drive and Leforge Road. The stop occurred at 7:48 p.m. and the case remains open.

A suspect failed to stop and identify at the scene of an accident that occurred in the Convocation Center Lot. The accident occurred at 8:31 p.m. and the case remains open.

An individual was cited for driving with a suspended license and no insurance. The traffic stop occurred at East Michigan Avenue and North River Street at 10:03 p.m. The case closed May 8.

Wednesday, May 8

A driver was cited for driving with a suspended license at a traffic stop at Huron River Drive and Leforge Road. The stop occurred at 6:41 p.m. and the case closed later that night.

Thursday, May 9

Food was reported stolen from carts at the Student Center loading dock. The theft was reported at 11:46 a.m. and is believed to have occurred at 2:43 p.m. the previous day. The case remains open.

Two subjects had an altercation at Village Building D and left before officers arrived at 10:28 p.m. The case is currently open.

Friday, May 10

A vehicle was damaged in Hoyt Lot between May 9 at 5:00 p.m. and May 10 at 10:20 a.m. The cause of the damage is unknown and so the case remains open.

Saturday, May 11

A vehicle was taken from Cornell Court Lot without authorization at 4:23 a.m. and later abandoned. The theft was reported at 12:43 p.m. and the case remains open.

A driver was found with a suspended license while stopped at Huron River Drive and Oakwood Street at 4: 14 p.m. The case closed May 11.

A subject was found driving with a suspended license and with narcotic paraphernalia in their vehicle during a routine traffic stop. The stop occurred at Oakwood and Mayhew Streets at 6:11 p.m. The case closed May 11.

Sunday, May 12

No crimes reported.
