EMU track and field conclude regular season at University of Michigan's Len Paddock Open

EMU throwers and jumpers finish season with dominant performances in Ann Arbor.

The Eastern Michigan University track and field team finished the 2022 regular season at the University of Michigan’s Len Paddock Open on Saturday, May 7.

On the track, freshman sprinter George Gage performed in the men’s 100-meter dash. Gage finished in fourth place with a time of 11.07 seconds. In the 200m, sophomore Trent Barron added an additional fourth-place finish for the Eagles with a time of 22.61. Barron also competed in the 400m, where he finished in second place with a time of 49.05. 

Almighty Williamson led the men’s hurdlers group in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 13.90. 

The women’s 4x100m relay crew consisted of freshman Saraiah Walkes, junior Mair Edwards, sophomore Kilani Harvey, and senior Keypathwa Gibson. The Eagles 4x100 crew finished the relay in second place with a time of 45.70. 

The women’s hammer throw finished the event with a strong performance of 2-3-4-7. Senior Kadian Clarke led all throwers, producing a 60.75m toss. 

Senior thrower Chukwusom Enekwechi won the shot put event with a 17.90m throw, and a discus throw of 46.46m. 

The Eagles won the men’s and women’s triple jump, as senior Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed produced a 14.85m jump, and fellow classmate Alisha St. Louis produced a jump of 11.79m. 

Sophomore Ousman Kamara tallied another victory for the Eagles in the high jump with a 2.00m. 

Next up, the Eagles will prepare for the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships at Western Michigan’s Kanley Track and Field Complex from May 12 through May 14.
