02414 -- Scott Stephenson Eastern Echo Scholarship:  This expendable scholarship is for the benefit of student(s) in the School of Communication, Media & Theater Arts in the College of Arts & Sciences.  It will be awarded to a full or part-time junior or senior EMU student majoring in journalism and working for the Eastern Echo.  The student should be working to self-finance their education and not be eligible for need-based grants.

The Eastern Michigan womens’ volleyball team is preparing to get their 2022-23 season underway, as head coach Darcy Dorton announced the season schedule on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. It includes 30 regular season matches, as well as four non-conference tournaments.

Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational - Friday, August 26, 2022, through Saturday, August 27, 2022, in East Lansing, MI. 

Xavier Tournament - Friday, September 2, 2022, through Saturday, September 3, 2022, in Cincinnati, Ohio. 

DePaul Invitational- Friday, September 9, 2022, through Saturday, September 10, 2022, in Chicago, Ill. 

Liberty Tournament- Friday, September 16, 2022, through Saturday, September 17, 2022, in Lynchburg, VA.

In preparation for the season, the Eagles played an exhibition match against Ferris State University at the George Gervin GameAbove Center on Saturday, August 20, 2022. The Eagles won that matchup, 3-2. 

The Eagles are welcoming seven newcomers to the squad, which include freshman defensive specialist Carlina Bender, freshman defensive specialist Emma McMahon, freshman outside hitter Jessica Wilson, and freshman outside hitter Sabrina Gremm. They also added sophomore middle blocker Mekayla Kroger from Sam Houston State University, sophomore outside hitter Emily Surin from Lamar University, and graduate student outside hitter Callie Minshew from Mississippi State University. 

Returning to the Eagles for the 2022-23 season, are freshman setter, Kendall Burk, sophomore middle blocker Madeline Timmerman, sophomore outside hitter Mackenzie Gross, junior defensive specialist Bella Hommes, junior setter Olivia Szylar, senior outside hitter Samantha Basham, senior defensive specialist Kamryn Stilwell, and senior outside hitter Krista Blakely. 

Also returning for the Eagles in her final season is middle blocker Raeven Chase. Chase was a first-team All-MAC selection as she led the conference in total blocks.
