New Year's Eve Party | BIG Ypsi — Dec. 31, 2025

On Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, BIG Ypsilanti will host a New Year's Eve party from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The event will feature a midnight balloon drop, a midnight toast, a chef-crafted buffet, a live DJ on the first floor, and more. 

There are several different ticket options for this event. Prices vary depending on patrons' ages and the experience type. For example, anyone five and older can purchase a first floor wristband for $63.73 to get access to the balloon drop, toast, buffet, unlimited soft drinks and unlimited first floor attractions. A full access wristband costs $97.87 and is reserved for those 18 and older.

NYE Comedy Drag Spectacular for Ozone House — Dec. 31, 2025

On Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, Tap Room, an Ypsilanti restaurant and bar, will celebrate New Year's Eve with a drag show and bingo event featuring Boylesque Drag, a drag group in Southeast Michigan. All members of the cast of Boylesque will perform, and the show will also feature two guest comedians. A portion of proceeds from the show will go to support Ozone House, an Ypsilanti-based shelter and safe space for youth in Washtenaw County. 

The event begins at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 8:30 p.m. The Tap Room is at 201 W. Michigan Ave. in Ypsilanti.

Sew Social — Jan. 5, 2026

Looking to connect with fellow crafters? Look no further than the Sew Social on Monday, Jan. 5, 2025, at the Superior branch of the Ypsilanti District Library. From 7-8 p.m., all who enjoy needlework, knit, crochet and embroidery are welcome to meet in the Superior Meeting Room to work on their projects and connect together.

This event is free and open to all ages and skill levels. No registration is required.

The Superior branch of the Ypsilanti District Library is at 1900 Harris Road in Ypsilanti, Michigan.


Allie Beecher

Allie Beecher uses she/her pronouns, and has worked for The Eastern Echo since August 2024. She started as a copy editor, then moved to Copy Desk Chief in the 2025 summer semester. Beecher is a junior double majoring in Business and Public Relations. 

Her job entails supervising The Echo’s copy editing team, ensuring all the content is error-free, and reviewing all work to make sure it follows AP style guidelines. For her, the best part is being able to use her skills to make a difference in the EMU and Ypsilanti community.
